AUTO INDIA 2008 FLASHBACK - BIKES

BIKES IN AUTO EXPO 2008

In a nostalgic look back at the auto expo held in January 2008, we bring you some of the important bike displays that took place at the expo. Most of the bikes that were displayed have been launched and have changed the bike landscape of India. Bikers in India can now look forward to the latest bikes that are being launched in India with power and capacity.
The noted bike manufacturers in India have announced plans to bring in their most popular bikes into India. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki have hot-selling bikes which go from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds becoming a blip on the horizon when the eye blinks twice.

The one factor that will determine the saleability of the models that the key manufacturers bring in shall be price. At a duty of 113%, for imports, it doubles cost of these bikes and many in India cannot afford such high prices. Most enthusiasts, however, have been ordering these bikes through the grey market which slashes the prices by 30% or more. One thing is clear though – bikers in India have begun demanding more and do not settle for ordinary and old technology that the local manufacturers had been dishing out for many years until recently.
